Customer concerned about abnormal engine noise.

Preliminary investigation/diagnosis was carried out to suspect a timing chain issue (Typical clatter/chatter type noise from timing area).

We then informed the customer of our suspicions and proceeded to remove the engine and gearbox assembly to allow further investigation to confirm the actual defect, destruction of one of the timing chain tensioners.

To rectify the defect all timing chains and tensioners were replaced and the engine reassembled to include and engine oil and filter change.

This was certainly a complex repair involving replacement of four chains and four tensioner assemblies involving numerous timing checks and adjustments to ensure all is perfect before rebuild and assembly refitment to vehicle
