VOLVO XC-90 with rear brakes missing

This 2005 Volvo XC-90 came in to the garage for a MOT test. It failed on a number of items but one of the failures was the passenger rear brake was not working.

The customer was surprised that the brake had failed as he had the car checked over at a main dealers to see what condition the car was in prior to the MOT test being carried out

When we stripped down the rear brakes to investigate why they were not fully working, we found that there was no braking components actually fitted to the car on the passenger side rear. All the braking components were actually missing from the car. This was bizarre!

The customer found it difficult to comprehend that there was no brakes fitted as Volvo had recently checked it over. This is surprising but in this industry nothing really surprises us that much. We suspect that they were perhaps not fully checked, it we are sure that it would have been highlighted immediately that the brake was not working on that side. We replaced all of the components on that side to ensure that it met MOT standards.

All components were replaced and the braking effort was absolutely perfect.
