This 2020 Skoda Octavia came in for a coolant leak. Although it is not quite 3 years old the mileage was more than 60K so it was classed as being out of manufacturers warranty.

We visually inspected all of the accessible components. Everything seemed fine. After a bit of research we came to the conclusion that the leak was possibly coming from coolant housing. To confirm whether that was the case, we had to get authorisation from the customer to strip down the front of his engine. Once an engine like this has been stripped down to this point you are pretty much commited to the job being completed.

We had to remove the front bumper, the radiator and air conditioning condenser. Once these parts were out of the way we starting removing components to get to the coolant housing unit. We could see at that point the the coolant housing had failed.

We ordered the new parts from Skoda main dealer. Once we received the new components, it was noted that one of the parts had been superceeded by Skoda. This is probably the reason why this component had failed so quickly.

We replaced the coolant housing and oil filter housing assembly and rebuilt it all up.

We replaced the engine oil and replaced the coolant. Re-gassed the air conditioning system.

The car was thouroughly road tested - all good and not a single bolt or washer left behind

A very complex and time consuming job that we doubt that no other local garage or even main dealer would have taken on at this time and to be able to turn it around so quickly for this very busy customer was amazing.

If we didn't know the customer so well then we may have not taken the job on, but here at Wolds View Garage we like a challenge and all went well in the end!
