Air conditioning service

We are very pleased to announce to our customers that we have invested in a new air conditioning machine that will service and regas the new type of refridgerant that is in the air conditioning system on 2017 vehicles onwards. This newer gas R1234YF is used in all vehicles manufactured from January 2017onwards.

This new formulation refridgerant is used in all cars manufactured after the 1st January 2017. Previous to this date and before 2014 most cars had the type R134A in the system. The older type of gas (R134A) is estimated to be over a 1000 times more damaging to the environment and the planet than the newer type of gas (R1234YF). Therefore this new gas is far more enviromentally friendly than the previous gas.

New vehicles manfactured after 2017 should have the air conditioning system serviced every 2 years. This service will ensure that the air conditioning is effective, efficient and  working at it's optimum level at all times. Servicing it will also help to lubricate any moving parts that the air conditioning system has.

After the service is completed we will deodorise the interior cabin of the car (free of charge) which will eliminate any bacteria build up inside the air conditioning system. This will ensure that the cabin is fresh for those longer staycation journeys that we will all be making.

By law garages are not allowed to simply  'regas' air conditioning systems. If it is extremely low on gas then there is a possiblility that the system may have a leak in one of the pipes or from the condensor. Just regassing the system is wasting your money as the gas may leak out within a matter of days and will add to the planets environmental issues.

The cost of the older type gas R134A air conditioning service is £69.95 and the service on the newer type gas systems starts from £89.95. Newer cars are unique to how much gas is required so the price could vary depending on how much gas is required.

AND REMEMBER - AIR CONDITIONING HELPS DEFROST WINDSHIELDS DURING THE WINTER MONTHS.

Car owners generally think that the air conditioning system is only to be used on hot days. This is not the case. On cold winter mornings, when your windscreen is covered in a layer of ice, turn on your air conditioning. This helps to defrost the car far quicker than sitting in the car waiting for the car to warm up, tipping jugs of water onto the screen (which immediately ices up again) or even worse standing outside the car for 10 minutes scrapping the ice of the windscreen.

All you have to do is put the temperature button to hot and press your air conditioning button. By pulling humidity out of the air, the air conditioning system helps defrost and defog the windshield far quicker than any other way.
