What’s an MOT Test?
An MOT test is your car’s annual health check. It dictates whether your vehicle meets roadworthiness and minimum standards set by DVSA.
All cars over 3 years old, including electric cars, must have an MOT test to be roadworthy and to fulfil their insurance companies’ obligations. If you do not have a valid MOT certificate then it could, in the event of an insurance claim, invalidate your policy and may lead to police prosecution. Also, as little fact for you – if you have a recovery service such as the AA or RAC and if you do not have an MOT certificate, they will not attend to your emergency.
Is my MOT test due?
It could be. Once your car is 3 years old the MOT test is due once a year. If you’re unsure of it’s due date, please call us and we’ll advise you.
Once you’ve visited our MOT Test Centre in Pocklington, you’ll be notified by post 4 weeks prior to when you’re next one is due. This way you’ll never have to worry about forgetting or leaving it until the last minute.
Is there a disadvantage to booking early?
No, not at all. We would recommend getting your MOT test booked in early, as it’s another thing off your mind. We can MOT test your vehicle one calendar month before the due date without you losing time from its current certificate.
How quickly can you get me in?

Your MOT doesn’t check whether your car is running at its peak.
It just checks if it meets certain minimum DVSA standards. That’s why you should be having a regular car service every year too.

Can you do any work straight away?
Yes. That’s always our goal.
If your car needs any remedial work to gain its certificate, we’ll provide a quote for any work required, and as soon as we have your permission, we’ll get the work done.
