We loaded up our trailer and collected this wonderful MG SA from York to check over. The car is used quite frequently but needed, without affecting it's orginality, to be a bit more driver friendly for the gentleman that uses it. We checked it over thoroughly before commencing any work.

Amongst other concerns one of the main issues for the customer was the difficulty in selecting the gears. These MG SA's have what is classed as a 'cork' clutch and because of the construction they do require maintenance. We removed the gearbox and sent the clutch plate off to be re-corked and re-sprung. Refitted it and rebuilt up the gearbox and the difference was immediately noticeable. After a few miles driving and bedding the cork in, it was near perfect.

We replaced both rear shock absorbers and various other suspension components.

The carburettors were set up correctly to give the engine a better fuel mix

We replace a whole host of seals and gaskets to alleviate any oils, water or greases leaking out.

We replace a water pump and modified the drain tap

Adjusted up braking system

A whole host of ad-hoc repair work was carried out during the process.

On a vehicle of this age and calibre everything had to be carefully sourced. If a part was not readily available we fabricated or modified the component. All componants that were replaced were inspected to ensure thast they meet the cars critera and history. We didn't really struggle with sourcing parts for it and in fact most items were able to be bought from specialists some local and some at the other end of the country. We enjoyed the challenges that this type of vehicle brings and now the owner is extremely pleased to be able to drive his car on a weekly basis.
